To our Readers, Writer's and Advertisers,
Salem County (May 17, 2012) - Thank you for your continued loyalty and interest in our online magazine. As you can see, we have undertaken a massive redesign of our website. While we are 85% complete, this is a very big endeavor, so please bear with us as we continue to work out some of the kinks in our navigation as we are trying to best organize and categorize our site to be a better resource for you. Our goal of the redesign is to simplify and create a better user experience and to find the best ways to promote our featured sponsors and The Marketplace. It is due to the support of our sponsors that we are able to continue with our magazine and our efforts to promote our shop local initiative and to continue raising awareness and money for local charities.
Please subscribe to our mailing list and like us on Facebook so you will be the first to know what's going on as well as receive exclusive coupons and offers that will only be available to our subscribers.
Our goal for the magazine this year is to make a concerted effort to increase public awareness of issues that affect women in our county, particularly domestic violence and sexual assault, to inspire these women to break their silence, and to make them aware of the resources that are available to help them. We offer free advertising for local non-profits that offer services to benefit Salem County's residents, so please let us know if you believe your non-profit organization should be included in our Community Outreach section.
Thank you so much,
Christine DeGraff

Spring 2012 - Let's Celebrate!
It's Spring! A time to celebrate our county and the women that make it great. A time for change. We are changing, adapting and growing... and we have a feeling you are going to love it! We are no longer on a monthly schedule. We are no longer on a seasonal schedule. We are now on our own schedule!

We will be seeking, creating and sharing content that is relevant, timely and engaging - and on an as needed basis in order to provide stories in smaller quantities so we don't overwhelm you with too much to read all at once, but often enough to offer a quality magazine that keeps you interested! We already have several photographers sending us photos and we are so excited to present their beautiful work to you! This photo by Erica Nicole Photography was just in time for Easter and we like it so much, we are going to leave it up for awhile! Learn more about Erica in our blog section. We are also excited about the photo at the top of the page by Luke Ottinger. Thank you guys!!!

Update...
In January of 2011, our featured woman was Brittni Hurff, a survivor of a brutal rape at Riverview Beach Park in Salem County. "On November 13, 2010, I became 'The Woman In The Park'. On that fateful day, I took a paperback to the park to read and enjoy the weather. I left there a victim of rape. I hate the word 'victim' and I will forever consider myself a 'survivor' of rape."

Brittni has continued speaking out on violence against women and also started a group on Facebook called WE...Women Empowered against Rape and Domestic Violence. The group has 280 members and is a forum for women to help empower other women to break the silence.
In Brittni's words "In an effort to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, I am asking all of you to please host a Premier Designs Jewelry Party. I will be donating my commision to Salem County Women's Services. This organization is near and dear to my heart...it is a wonderful source of compassion and help. It is the goal of Women Empowered to turn all victims into SURVIVORS!!"
If you or someone you know is suffering from domestic violence, please go to http://www.SalemCountyWoman.com/HELP to get information about Salem County Women's Services including their 24 Hour Emergency Hotline.
